Summary
When the ancient evil Aku returns to terrorize Japan, the emperor’s young son is send to distant lands to train in the ways of the warrior. Only then can he wield his fathers magical sword to stop Aku from taking over the world.
Our Take
A solid setup episode that spends most of its runtime on the hero’s childhood and training montage, which works better than you’d expect thanks to some striking visuals. The pacing drags a bit in the middle stretch across different lands, but the opening battle and the final confrontation with Aku land well. Worth watching if you want the full story from the start.
