Summary
Failed actor Henry Pollard returns to work at Party Down catering. He meets his fellow employees, led by his old colleague Ron, a clean living team leader with big dreams.
Our Take
The pilot does a solid job setting up the sad-sack catering gig without begging for laughs, and Adam Scott’s deadpan resignation lands better than anything else here. Some of the side characters feel sketchy, like they’re trying too hard to be quotable. Still, the cringe humor and workplace despair work more often than not, enough to justify coming back for episode two.
