Summary
Charlie is going batty trying to keep rats out of Paddy’s basement, so the gang decides to throw him a surprise party to cheer him up.
Our Take
A weird, scrappy half hour that leans hard on Charlie Day’s manic energy, and mostly gets away with it. The rat-killing montage and the spaghetti-in-the-briefcase dream bit are genuinely funny, though the surprise party plot itself runs thin in stretches. Not a season highlight, but the gang’s casual cruelty toward Charlie still lands. Fine way to kill 22 minutes.
