Episode Summary & Review
Summary
Dennis and Dee’s estranged father, Frank Reynolds, returns to town to reconnect with his kids. They don’t want anything to do with him, but Frank likes hanging with Charlie and Mac. Meanwhile, Charlie gets hit by Dennis’s car (accidentally, of course) and needs to use a wheelchair. The gang soon discovers that this isn’t all that bad.
Our Take
The season two opener mostly exists to introduce Frank, and Danny DeVito slots into the gang’s awfulness like he was always there. The wheelchair scam stuff is funny but feels a bit like setup, with Charlie and Dennis doing heavy lifting while the Frank reunion plot sputters. A solid if not spectacular start that points the show toward its best era.
