Summary
Charles and Mambo are in love and look to Duckman for advice. He tells them a Bridges of Madison County esque story of how he and their mother met and fell in love.
Our Take
A surprisingly sincere hour for a show that usually hides its feelings under noise. The flashback structure gives Duckman room to be an actual character instead of a yelling machine, and the romance lands better than you’d expect. Some of the framing device drags and the kids’ subplot is thin, but the ending earns its melancholy. Worth it for fans curious what’s under the cynicism.
