Doctor Dark, an old enemy of Mandrake the Magician, is sprung from prison by Ming and brings with him three psychic warriors. Ming sends Doctor Dark on a mission with the goal of finding the Orb of Konos, which will bestow upon him the power to grant Ming immortality! Mandrake learns of Dark’s plan through Vandar, his former mentor. When the Defenders arrive, they discover that Doctor Dark has captured Vandar.
