Summary
Annie organizes a baby shower for Shirley, while Shirley plots to keep Senor Chang out of her life. Meanwhile, Britta has a mysterious new love interest named Lukka, whose classroom poetry soon reveals a dark past.
Our Take
A middling episode saved by its B-plot. Britta’s romance with Lukka is the funny part, especially once his poetry exposes some genuinely uncomfortable secrets, and the reveal lands with a good mix of dark and silly. The Shirley and Chang custody storyline feels like retread of jokes we’ve already seen, and Chang’s creepiness works better in small doses. Worth watching for the Lukka material alone.
