Episode Summary & Review
Summary
Trying to dissociate themselves from the volatile Tuco takes a bad turn when Walt and Jesse get trapped with the dealer, and Skyler, worried about her missing husband, receives comfort from her sister and brother-in-law. Hank, meanwhile, pays a business call on Jesse’s mother.
Our Take
Tuco kidnaps Walt and Jesse to his uncle’s desert safehouse, planning to take them to Mexico to cook for the cartel. A bottle episode of pure pressure: Tuco’s paranoia, his invalid uncle Tio who can only ring a bell, and Walt’s improvised poisoning attempt (trying to pass off a poison packet as meth) surviving by inches. The bell becomes the season’s motif — an old man communicating accusations one ding at a time while his nephew escalates. Hank arrives by accident and kills Tuco, becoming a local hero at the exact moment Walt’s world starts collapsing.
