Changing of the Guard

Episode Summary & Review

Summary

After failing to set up base defenses, the Maximals attempt to salvage Sentinel from the wreckage of the Axalon. Rattrap pilots a submarine into the submerged ship, where he is attacked by Rampage. Depth Charge arrives, but only wishes to kill Rampage. Without Depth Charge’s help, Inferno and Waspinator steal Sentinel from the Maximals, and it is installed into the Predacon base.

Our Take

Rattrap gets the spotlight here and it’s a fun change of pace, with the underwater salvage mission giving the episode a different feel than the usual ground skirmishes. Depth Charge continues to be a jerk in an interesting way, though his vendetta against Rampage is starting to feel like the only note he plays. A solid midseason hour with a genuinely frustrating ending for the Maximals.
