Night of the Ninja

Episode Summary & Review

Summary

A mysterious ninja is robbing Wayne Enterprises subsidiaries, and Batman discovers that the ninja is actually his equal in combat. A grudge against Bruce Wayne and skills to match him can only mean one person: Kyodai Ken, an old rival of Wayne’s teacher from his days in Japan, and who was thrown out of the dojo after attempting to rob it, only to be stopped by Wayne. Ken, it turns out, wants revenge.

Our Take

A solid if predictable revenge hour that leans on flashbacks to Bruce’s training days in Japan, which turn out to be the strongest material here. The ninja fights are well staged and it’s fun watching Batman genuinely outmatched for once. The mystery is thin since the culprit is obvious early, but the pacing keeps it moving. Worth a watch for the character backstory alone.
