Episode Summary & Review
Summary
The Scarecrow invents a fear chemical that is activated by adrenaline. Then, he uses it to affect the outcome of athletic events. Whenever a single person becomes agitated, the fear chemical kicks in, turning his excitement to fear. The Scarecrow bets against the sports stars’ teams as part of his criminal scheme to scare up some quick cash, and Batman and Robin must foil his plot.
Our Take
A solid Scarecrow outing that trades his usual horror show for a gambling scheme, and it mostly works. The fear toxin concept is clever, and Robin gets some real screen time with Dick Grayson’s college football angle. It never feels especially menacing though, and the middle stretch sags a bit. Worth a watch for Scarecrow fans, but it’s middle-tier Batman.
