Episode Summary & Review
Summary
Joss Whedon, the creative genius behind the feature film “Marvel’s The Avengers,” one of the highest grossing films of all time, and of the iconic television series “Buffy The Vampire Slayer,” has cocreated “Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” a dynamic, nonstop action one hour drama that brings back Agent Phil Coulson to lead a team of highly skilled agents to investigate extra normal and super human people and events worldwide.
Our Take
A breezy, competent setup episode that leans hard on Whedon-style banter, though not all the jokes land. Clark Gregg is charming as ever, but the rest of the team feels sketched rather than drawn, and the case of the week is thin. Watchable and brisk, just don’t expect the hook to sink in yet.
