Our Take
A quiet little hour built around one of the show’s strangest recurring characters, and it lands better than it has any right to. James Baxter’s grief is played straight, which makes Finn and Jake’s earnest attempts to help him feel genuinely warm instead of cloying. The animation flourishes when the horses perform, and the ending earns its sweetness. Worth your time.
