Alan Ritchson says a planned season of Reacher adapting Lee Child’s novel Die Trying was approved and then quietly shelved. Responding on Threads to a fan asking about “the book where he kills his way through a white supremacist militia camp,” the star called Die Trying his favorite book and wrote, “Fun fact: I had it approved until someone got re-elected,” according to Deadline.
Reacher stars Ritchson as Jack Reacher, the former military police investigator turned drifter at the center of Lee Child’s bestselling novels. Season 4 arrived on Prime Video in August 2026, and the series has already been renewed for Season 5, which will adapt the 2015 novel Make Me.
Die Trying, the second book in the series, follows Reacher after he and a politician’s daughter are abducted by a radical militia that wants to use her to force a state’s secession from the United States. The show itself is unaffected: Season 5 is underway and Reacher remains one of Prime Video’s biggest draws. But with the plan dropped, the novel’s fans will keep waiting to see whether Reacher ever fights his way through that militia camp.
