Monday, October 5
The feast of Cosme e Damião opens in Barro Preto. Ana Maria congratulates Mundica on her work at the atelier. Fuad draws closer to Belmira. Miguel laments his arrest, and Adônis comforts him. Januário declares himself to Ana Maria, and the two share a kiss. Rosa introduces herself to Manoel. Geralda questions Fortunato about Maria Helena. Viriato needles Bartô about his scheming over Veneranda. Dona Menina is weighed down by a bad premonition. Virgínia arrives in Barro Preto with Jendal.
Tuesday, October 6
Jendal announces, in front of everyone, that Alika is his lawful wife. Alika and Niara flee from Jendal with the help of Tonho. Teresa attacks Virgínia, and Onildo backs her up. All of Barro Preto is talking about the true identities of Alika and Niara. Omar, Tonho, Alika and Niara reach a safe hiding place. Jendal fumes at the escape of the princess. Mirinho rebukes Virgínia for what she did against Alika. Jendal bribes Fortunato to get a word with Mirinho. Marta stands with Teresa in solidarity. Campbell and Binta strike a deal behind Jendal’s back. José returns to Batanga and informs Akin and Ladisa that Menemi and Kofí are on the side of the rebels. Alika hatches a plan to take Jendal hostage.
Wednesday, October 7
Alika turns over in her mind how to locate Jendal. Mirinho places himself at the service of Jendal. Diógenes scolds Virgínia for turning Alika and Niara over to Jendal. Marta offers her support to Teresa and Onildo. Tonho suggests that Alika and Niara return to Batanga while Jendal is in Brazil. Fortunato, Adônis, Jendal and Mirinho sweep the lands of the mill hunting for Tonho, Alika, Niara and Omar. Jendal demands that Fortunato seal the exits of Barro Preto. Onildo and Tonho gather belongings and documents for the escape of Alika, Niara and Omar. Zambi prepares the rescue of Dumi and Kênia. Alika discovers the record of a sacred tree of Batanga in a grotto of Barro Preto.
Thursday, October 8
Alika suspects that Tonho may be a descendant of King Shaka. Tonho delivers the documents for the escape of Alika, Niara and Omar. Guaraci arrives to work at the mill, and Graça takes aim at the young woman with her barbs. Fortunato mounts guards at the exits of Barro Preto, and Tonho counsels Alika and the others to delay the escape. Onildo tells Sebastião that he is no longer his friend. Jendal interrogates Teresa about Zambi and pressures Caetana to reveal where Tonho is. Tonho proposes an alternate route out of Barro Preto, and Omar and Alika accept. Led by Zambi, Akin and Ladisa, the rebels of Batanga set Dumi and Kênia free.
Friday, October 9
Kênia tells Akin, Ladisa and Dumi that she has a new family now. Dumi and Kênia are in love. Sebastião reaps the consequences of his informing at the boarding house of Geralda. Jendal assures Mirinho and his family that he will have his revenge on Alika. Mirinho flies into a rage and confesses to Virgínia that he never loved her. Graça advises Virgínia not to confront Mirinho. Pascoal and Binta discover that the rebels have freed Kênia and Dumi. Omar confides in Tonho that he will not run without striking Jendal first. Binta orders the whole population of Batanga into her army, and Chinua warns Akin, Dumi, Ladisa and Kênia. Omar issues a threat to Jendal.
Saturday, October 10
Omar strikes Jendal down, and Tonho holds Omar back before the fatal blow lands. Jendal orders his guards to pursue Omar and Tonho, who manage to slip away. Onildo is called upon to help Jendal. Alika is furious at the impulsive act of Omar and tells her friend he has ruined the escape for all of them. Zambi, Dumi and Kênia celebrate the gains of the movement with the rebels of Batanga. Pascoal arrests Zuri, and Gamba tries to steady her nerves. Mirinho lays out to Manoel his plan to save Alika from Jendal and run away with her. Salma asks Ana Maria for news of Omar and his friends. Severino tells Mirinho he has found the hiding place of Alika and Tonho.
