The New CEO Treats My Sex Addiction
Our Review
What Happens
Vera married by arrangement and the marriage has no intimacy at all: her husband sleeps with other women while her own condition keeps getting worse. She starts treatment. During that period she crosses paths with Roy, a magnetic stranger, and they spend a night together. She wakes up in shame.
Then she walks into work and learns Roy is the company’s new chief executive, and she’s assigned as his secretary. That’s the engine: recovery and temptation sharing an office, the person you’re trying to stop needing sitting at the desk you serve coffee to. The show is serious about the treatment, at least, group sessions and all; Roy’s own history is the last card it plays.
Our take: the title is clickbait and the actual show is a mid-list workplace drama with an honest addiction spine. The office-proximity mechanic is doing all the heavy lifting, and by episode 40 it’s lifting repeat beats. Weakest of the six we built this week, but the only one brave enough to make its protagonist’s problem real before the romance fixes it.
Watch for: Vera’s group-therapy scenes, which are the best writing DramaBox has shipped this fall.
What’s in it (content guide)
Content note: The most adult premise in our guide: the story is about a sex addiction, with therapy-session discussions of sexual behavior, an affair, and implied scenes. No graphic nudity in the free episodes, no minors anywhere near the subject matter. Read the title before you start and know what you are taking home.
