Forbidden Fling With My Bestie’s Dad
Our Review
What Happens
Mia is a graduate student flying to her best friend’s wedding in the tropics. On that flight she catches her fiancé cheating, in the merciless way these shows do it: photos, on her own phone. Later that week, after too many drinks, she sleeps with Damien, an older billionaire with silver hair and a secret-kept-for-years look about him.
Then she learns Damien is the bride’s father. The rest of the wedding weekend is two people trying to hide an attraction under a leis and a bouquet, sneaking off while jealous exes circle and someone works to wreck the celebration from outside. The script plays the age gap and the friendship betrayal as two separate wounds and lets them bleed on different schedules, which is smarter than the premise deserves.
Our take: it’s a wish-fulfillment machine, and the silver-fox billionaire is played with exactly the deadpan gravity the genre requires. The wedding-weekend container gives it real pressure: you can’t run away from a man you’re seated next to at rehearsal dinner. It crossed 130 million views, and the second act is the strongest of any recent DramaBox romance we’ve tracked.
The catch: the third act reaches for one last coincidence to force the couple apart, and the resolution arrives about five episodes too early, leaving the finale to stall.
