Jensen Ackles is heading back to CBS. The actor will reprise his role as Russell Shaw, the older brother of Justin Hartley’s US Marshal Colter Shaw, in Season 4 of Tracker, and CBS has now locked the date.
The return episode is titled Need to Know and airs Sunday, November 1 at 9:30 pm on CBS. In the story, the wife and daughter of a military contractor are kidnapped, pulling Colter into an investigation that crosses paths with a lead Russell is chasing on his own. The two brothers end up joining forces to dig into a high-stakes cover-up.
Russell was last seen in the Season 3 finale, when he cut a secret deal tied to a covert government program before disappearing. Showrunner Elwood Reid has said he hopes to bring Ackles back for a longer stretch of episodes this season, which would be a welcome upgrade for fans of the Shaw brothers.
