Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches Season 3 Gets Salem Coven Title and December 30 Premiere

Season 3 of Anne Rice's Mayfair Witches is titled Salem Coven and premieres December 30 on AMC and AMC+. NYCC revealed the new setting in Salem, Massachusetts, new cast and a darker Immortal Universe direction.

AMC used its New York Comic Con Main Stage slot on Friday to put dates and a new title on the third season of Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches. The season now carries the subtitle Salem Coven and will premiere Wednesday, December 30 on AMC and AMC+, closing out 2026 instead of waiting for a new year.

Showrunner Esta Spalding said the subtitle fits a season that is bigger, colder and very Salem-centric. The story moves from New Orleans and the Scottish highlands to Salem, Massachusetts, with a revisionist take on witch history that places real witches in the town since 1693. Alexandra Daddario’s Rowan is written as more powerful and more commanding than before, trapped in Salem and hunting a way out, while Ted Levine’s Julien Mayfair takes over Cortland’s body and Betsy Brandt joins as new witch Katherine Mayfair.

The NYCC panel also confirmed Michiel Huisman as Michael Summers, a love interest for Rowan with a dark secret, and Eliza Scanlen as Jessica, an original Salem witch who befriends her. Spalding warned the Mayfair family finishes the season in grim circumstances, and the showrunners are sharing an office floor with the rest of the Anne Rice Immortal Universe writers, so expect deeper crossover threads with Interview With the Vampire. A December 30 premiere gives the show a holiday-window runway on the network that has lost most of its other live-action bench.
