VisionQuest Opens to Glowing First Reactions After Surprise NYCC Screening

Marvel debuted the first episode of VisionQuest at New York Comic Con and early reactions call it a worthy successor to WandaVision. All eight episodes hit Disney+ October 14.

Marvel closed out its New York Comic Con panel on Thursday with a surprise screening of the first episode of VisionQuest, and the early word from the room is glowing. Attendees are calling the Disney+ series a worthy successor to WandaVision, the project it has always been positioned to finish.

Paul Bettany returns as Vision alongside showrunner Terry Matalas, with James Spader reprising Ultron and Emily Hampshire joining as the AI persona EDITH. The story follows a Vision in hiding, consulted by the AI personalities buried in his own programming, until a bounty on his head puts him on the run with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy played by Ruaridh Mollica who may be Vision’s reincarnated son.

Bettany told the crowd the series wraps up the story that began with WandaVision and continued through Agatha All Along, describing it as a superhero story about fathers and sons, one with a robot and a human son. All eight episodes land on Disney+ on October 14, so the wait for a verdict is measured in days, not months.
