Lanterns Finale Sets a Series Record With 10.5 Million Global Viewers

The Lanterns season finale pulled 10.5 million global viewers in three days, a new record for the HBO series, with no renewal decision yet.

Lanterns closed out its first season as the most watched show in its own history. The finale drew 10.5 million viewers globally across its first three days on HBO and HBO Max, a new series record, per Nielsen and Warner Bros. Discovery internal figures.

That is a step up from episode seven, which tallied 7 million US viewers in its own three-day window, and it keeps the DC Studios series sitting among HBO’s strongest recent launches alongside It: Welcome to Derry. The season averaged close to 19 million viewers per episode worldwide.

HBO has not renewed or canceled the series. Content chief Casey Bloys said no other DC Studios television projects are currently in development, while DC Studios boss James Gunn confirmed the October 4 finale was a season finale, not a series finale.
