Monday (Sep 21)
Kênia works in the mines of Batanga while Binta and Pascoal celebrate their revenge against the princess. Jendal closes in on Brazil. The day of Mirinho and Virgínia’s wedding arrives, and Ana Maria is uncomfortable standing beside Manoel as Mirinho’s godmother, a detail Januário notices. Mirinho faints at the altar and Viriato comes to his aid, while Sebastião leaves the church in tears and Bartô grows suspicious. Virgínia and Mirinho finally marry. Onildo reveals to Alika that Niara is in danger of dying.
Tuesday (Sep 22)
Tonho welcomes Alika and Caetana prays for Vera/Niara; Tonho and Alika kiss and Omar catches the two of them. Chinua warns Akin and Ladisa about Kênia’s condition, and Pascoal and Binta launch a new plan to stop the rebellion in Batanga. Ritinha and Aurelinda ask to play together, to Diógenes’s annoyance. Mirinho calls Virgínia by Lúcia’s name on his wedding night. Fuad believes Salma is jealous of his interest in Belmira, but Salma is thinking of Omar. Fortunato is rude to Manoel, who suffers from Ana Maria’s neglect; Binta pressures Campbell, and Alika suffers seeing Niara weakened.
Wednesday (Sep 23)
Tonho tells Alika that Niara will recover. Casemiro feels unwell and Graça grows anxious, while Ana Maria realizes Januário may be interested in her. Campbell warns Binta about the consequences of ending Batanga’s contract with England, and Akin and Ladisa strike a deal with Gamba to protect Dumi. Aurelinda says she wishes Ritinha were her sister, and Onildo reveals that Niara has improved. Pascoal assaults Dumi and Kênia despairs. Casemiro asks Tonho to take care of his engenho and of Ana Maria, leaving the young man suspicious; Salma declares her love to Omar, and Casemiro falls gravely ill in front of Mirinho and Ana Maria and does not survive.
Thursday (Sep 24)
Graça despairs over Casemiro’s death and everyone is stricken. Alika reveals to Tonho that Casemiro suffered a sudden illness, and the young man is distraught. Omar confesses to Salma that he was glad to learn of her interest in him. Binta reveals her plans for Batanga to Jawari during Jendal’s absence, and Gamba presents himself to Dumi and Kênia as an ally of the rebellion. Everyone attends Casemiro’s wake, and Tonho proposes that he and Mirinho be friends again in Casemiro’s honor. Niara’s health strengthens and Alika celebrates; Virgínia fears Mirinho will decide to stay at the engenho, and Mirinho discovers that Casemiro left his lands to Tonho.
Friday (Sep 25)
Mirinho tells Graça and Ana Maria that he will run Casemiro’s business affairs. Ana Maria disapproves and tells Graça that Casemiro’s wishes should be respected, while Tonho worries about the fate of the engenho. José writes to Teresa on his way to Batanga, and Binta and Jawari pressure Campbell for a new agreement with Batanga. Januário declares his love to Ana Maria, and Alika lets Omar arrange her travel preparations again. Mirinho announces to Tonho that he will sell the engenho, but Tonho assures Dona Menina, Januário and the others that they will not be left without land. Niara is discharged from the hospital, and an armed man enters Miguel’s warehouse, where an accident ends up happening.
Saturday (Sep 26)
Miguel despairs realizing he has taken a man’s life. Fortunato opens an investigation and Salma fears for her father; Miguel is detained, and Omar, Lúcia/Alika and Tonho support Salma and her family. Malungo visits Alika and Niara and announces he will return to his homeland. Ana Maria confesses her fear of losing Caetana’s company, and Virgínia and Mirinho move temporarily to the engenho. Alika has a nightmare about Jendal, and Halim announces that Fuad will no longer marry Salma. José draws closer to Batanga, and Jendal arrives in Brazil.
