A new industry report has put numbers on why Wonder Man was canceled at Disney+. The series kept 52% of the viewers who started it all the way through to the finale, yet it still ended after a single season, and the report finds broadcast TV shows are currently renewed at higher rates than streaming originals. Disney had ordered a second season in March 2026, then reversed course and pulled the plug.
Wonder Man follows Simon Williams, an aspiring Hollywood actor whose career will not take off. He falls in with Trevor Slattery, an actor whose biggest roles are well behind him, and when a legendary director announces a remake of the superhero film Wonder Man, both men chase the kind of parts that could change everything. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Ben Kingsley play the two leads, and the first season of eight episodes arrived on Disney+ in January 2026.

The show is canceled, and no second season is coming. All eight episodes remain available on Disney+. The report points to audience retention rather than total viewership as the deciding factor, since the series ranked among the most watched Disney+ originals of the first half of 2026. The cancellation stings a little more because Abdul-Mateen II earned an Emmy nomination for the role, a rare feat for a live action Marvel series.
