Summary
Nate, Robin and the kids are headed from Syracuse to Ft. Lauderdale in a janky mini van instead of flying. Between truckers, aggressive drivers and road side breakfast spots, nothing is really what it seems.
Our Take
The Detour opens with a familiar setup, a family road trip where everything goes wrong, and it mostly coasts on crude gags and Natalie Zea’s timing. Some bits land, especially the roadside diner scene, but the pilot leans hard on shock humor that doesn’t always earn its laughs. It’s a decent, messy start that suggests the show might find its footing, so give it a shot if the trailer amused you.
