Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren, Alfa Romeo 166, Cadillac Escalade
Episode Summary & Review
Summary
Jeremy Clarkson road tests the Alfa Romeo 166. A nun drives a monster truck over a row of cars. Richard Hammond discovers why rappers sing about the Cadillac Escalade. James is in the pink as he takes Lady Penelope’s new Ford FAB1 from the 2004 Thunderbirds movie out for a spin. Jeremy reports on the SLR, a supercar collaboration between Mercedes-Benz and McLaren. And celebrity hypnotist Paul McKenna does his lap in the Reasonably Priced Car, then causes Richard some very embarrassing moments.
Our Take
A grab-bag episode that leans hard on stunts, with the nun in a monster truck delivering exactly the dumb fun it promises. The SLR segment is the real meat, giving Clarkson room to properly gush and gripe about a genuinely interesting car. The Thunderbirds tie-in feels like promo filler, and McKenna’s hypnosis bit runs longer than it should. Solid, uneven, worth it for the SLR alone.
