Top Gear heads to the Isle of Man for a special edition showing what the team got up to during their summer holidays. Jeremy Clarkson drives the quickest BMW M3 that money can buy. Top Gear introduces the new Stig, and James May and Richard Hammond try out a bevy of BMWs, Porsche Boxster and Honda S2000 on the Isle’s famous TT circuit. This week’s Star in a Reasonably Priced Car is Stephen Fry. And the team finds out how many caravans a Volvo estate can jump.

Our Take

A fun, scattered hour that mostly coasts on the Isle of Man scenery and the novelty of meeting the new Stig. The caravan-jumping Volvo is exactly the kind of dumb stunt this show does best, and Stephen Fry is a genuinely charming guest. The BMW-heavy car tests drag a bit unless you’re a specs person, but there’s enough silliness here to make it worth a watch.
