Episode Summary & Review
Summary
Dr. Kureha tells the heartwrenching story of Chopper’s origins, including how he met his mentor Dr. Hiriluk and their quest to cure all disease.
Our Take
This one goes heavy on the flashback and earns every minute of it. Hiriluk’s story hits hard, and the animation finally gives Chopper’s past the weight it deserves, though the framing device around Kureha’s telling drags a little in spots. Emotional payoff is strong enough that the slower pace doesn’t matter much. Worth your time.
