Episode Summary & Review
Summary
Entry to Valhalla eludes Ragnar but as he lies in his sick bed in Kattegat events unfold beyond his control. Bjorn orders the arrest of Floki for Athelstan’s murder and in Paris, Rollo betrays his allies to strengthen his position. Meanwhile, in Hedeby, Kalf announces joint Earldom with Lagertha, but is Lagertha actually willing to share what once was hers?
Our Take
A busy season opener that spends a lot of time setting up new power struggles rather than delivering much payoff. Ragnar’s decline gives Travis Fimmel some good quiet moments, and Clive Standen is clearly having fun with Rollo’s new attitude in Paris. The Hedeby storyline drags a bit, but the Floki arrest scene crackles. Solid enough, just not a standout.
