Summary
Ensign Tendi has her first day of work on Starfleet’s U.S.S. Cerritos, where she meets fellow support crew members, Ensigns Mariner, Boimler and Rutherford. Meanwhile, Boimler is tasked with a secret special assignment and Rutherford attempts to keep his dating life intact while a sci-fi disaster strikes the ship.
Our Take
A breezy setup episode that mostly works because Mariner steals every scene she’s in. The jokes land more often than they miss, though the disaster plot feels like an afterthought and Boimler’s assignment gets stale fast. Worth a watch if you like your Trek with a side of workplace comedy, just don’t expect the format to feel fully cooked yet.
