Jack and the Lava Monster

Episode Summary & Review

Summary

Having made his way through a cave filled with booby traps, Samurai Jack faces a giant lava monster that used to be a viking warrior in days long past.

Our Take

A pretty atmospheric hour with some striking imagery once Jack reaches the lava caves, though the booby trap stretch at the start feels like padding. The viking’s story gives the fight a genuine emotional core, which is more than you can say for a lot of villain-of-the-week episodes. Worth a watch if you’re enjoying the season, but not essential.
