Summary
A delivery boy frozen in the year 1999 awakens in the year 3000. Phillip J. Fry delivers a pizza to a Cryogenics lab on New Years eve, only to discover that it is a prank delivery and then accidentally falls into a open cryogenics chamber, is put to sleep and wakes up in the far future.
Our Take
A confident pilot that knows exactly what tone it’s going for, tossing Fry into the future and letting the jokes carry the world-building. The dynamic between Fry, Leela, and Bender snaps into place fast, and Bender’s introduction is still one of the show’s funniest. Some gags are dated and the plot is thin, but it’s an easy, fun half hour.
