Summary
As Brockmire deals with his newfound sobriety, he is introduced as the new announcer for the Oakland Athletics with his coannouncer and former softball star Gabby Taylor.
Our Take
A solid premiere that leans on Hank Azaria’s ability to make self-destruction funny even when the character is trying to behave. The Oakland setting breathes some new life into the formula, and Amanda Peet’s Gabby is a promising foil. It’s a bit setup-heavy and a few jokes whiff, but the sour charm is intact. Worth it for fans, easy entry for newcomers.
