A Room with a Bellevue
Episode Summary & Review
Summary
Duckman gets placed in a mental institution after pleading temporary insanity to a charge of public ranting. He likes the strict regimentation of the institution (compared to the anarchy and chaos of outside the institution) so much that he decides to have himself permanently committed. Cornfed comes to rescue Duckman from the institution, but is to late as he has already been given shock treatment. Luckily Cornfed has a book on brain surgery and gets Duckman back to ‘normal’.
Our Take
A genuinely funny premise that trades Duckman’s usual chaos for institutional order, and the joke about him preferring the asylum lands better than you’d expect. The shock treatment and DIY brain surgery finale is exactly the kind of dark, ridiculous swing this show does well. Not a standout, but a solid, mean-spirited half hour worth catching if you’re already a fan.
