Summary
A woman dies in a scratch and-sniff book explosion. Was the scientist who wrote the book the target of the explosion, or was this part of an intentional publicity stunt gone horribly wrong?
Our Take
This one leans hard into the show’s quirkiest gimmick yet, and the scratch-and-sniff mystery is more silly than clever. Chi McBride gets some good material as Emerson, but the case itself feels thin and the guest characters don’t leave much of an impression. Fine for fans keeping up with the season, but it’s one of the weaker hours so far.
