Danny McBride’s third HBO trilogy of terrible people is his best: a famous televangelist family that loves Jesus, money, and fighting each other, usually in that order. John Goodman anchors it, Walton Goggins steals entire seasons as Baby Billy, and Adam Devine and Edi Patterson turn the sibling rivalry into something close to Shakespeare, if Shakespeare had jet skis.
It is somehow the sweatest mean show on TV. Under every scandal is a real story about family, faith, and forgiveness, and the final season sticks the landing better than anyone expected.
Our take: 8.5/10.
