Episode Summary & Review
Summary
As the school prepares for winter break, Jack tries to record a lecture on Thoreau’s transcendentalism as a way into the University of Wisconsin’s philosophy department; frustrated and unable to finish the video, he falls asleep and has nightmares.
Our Take
This one leans hard on Jack’s frustration, and while Glenn Howerton selling exasperation is still funny, the nightmare premise runs out of steam quickly. The Thoreau lecture bits give it some structure, but the dream sequences feel like filler rather than actual jokes. A watchable but thin episode, saved mostly by the supporting cast’s side moments. Fine if you’re already committed to the season.
