Summary
While Rhaenyra struggles to come to terms with her son’s murder, in King’s Landing, Alicent grows concerned that Aegon’s Small Council may lead them to an all out war. Larys suggests Aegon needs a new Hand, and Rhaenyra arrives at a fateful decision.
Our Take
A slow, grief-soaked opener that trades action for atmosphere, and mostly gets away with it. Emma D’Arcy does a lot with quiet scenes, though the pacing sags in the middle stretch of council meetings. The closing twist lands hard enough to justify the wait. Worth your time if you liked season one’s slower episodes.
