The story of Evergreen, and his young assistant Gunther, during the Cretaceous period, long before the Mushroom War, where they try to keep a major catastrophe from destroying Earth.
Our Take
This is one of Adventure Time’s strangest and most gorgeous departures, a prehistoric fable told in a completely different visual style with a genuinely tragic ending. It barely features Finn and Jake, and the archaic dialogue takes some getting used to, but the slow-building dread pays off. Worth watching for anyone curious where the show’s deeper mythology comes from.
