Summary

A new addition joins the White family as Walter Jr. attempts to help out his struggling family by launching a new Web site. Elsewhere, Jesse’s addiction worsens and his relationship with Jane begins to negatively impact Walt and her father.

Our Take

The season’s moral event horizon. Jesse and Jane’s romance curdles into heroin; Walt, locked out of his own house, breaks into Jesse’s to take the money and finds them passed out mid-overdose. And then — the moment the whole series pivots on — Jane chokes on her own vomit while Walt watches, calculating, and chooses not to intervene. He does it for the dominoes: with Jane gone, Jesse is controllable, the money is safe, the lie is preserved. The pink teddy bear’s meaning begins to assemble.
