Episode Summary & Review
Summary
After an 800-year old Romulan vessel is found, Captain Burnham and the U.S.S. Discovery are sent to retrieve it. But the artifact inside is stolen, starting an epic chase. Saru is offered a lifetime position.
Our Take
A busy season opener that spends a lot of time setting up the chase without giving it much weight. Burnham remains a solid anchor and the Romulan ship mystery has real pull, but the villain reveal lands flat and the pacing feels rushed in odd places. Decent enough start, just don’t expect the hook to grab you immediately.
