Episode Summary & Review
Summary
Michael is in hot water when it comes time to pay up for promising a bunch of kids he would pay for their college tuition; Dwight tries to set Jim up.
Our Take
This is one of the hardest watches the show ever produced, and I mean that as a compliment. Michael’s promise coming back to bite him is pure cringe comedy, but Steve Carell keeps it grounded in real sadness rather than just humiliation. The Dwight-Jim subplot is thinner, yet it gives just enough breathing room between the painful parts. Worth it for the battery scene alone.
