Episode Summary & Review
Summary
Dennis and Dee’s ailing grandfather Pop-Pop is wasting away in the hospital, and they have to decide whether or not to pull the plug. But things get complicated when The Gang learns of Pop-Pop’s history as a Nazi, and Mac, Charlie and Frank set off in search of the old man’s spoils from the war.
Our Take
The Nazi grandfather premise sounds edgy on paper but the execution is pretty scattershot, with the gang’s bickering over war spoils wearing thin before the half hour is up. Dennis and Dee’s hospital plot gets a few good uncomfortable laughs, and Charlie’s painting subplot is the highlight. A middling season opener that coasts on the show’s usual mean-spirited energy without adding much new.
