Our Take
A middling early episode that leans on shock humor before the show fully found its voice. Charlie’s fake illness gives Charlie Day some good frantic moments, and Mac’s subplot has its share of awkward laughs, but the whole thing feels meaner than funny in spots. Worth a watch for completeness, though season one has stronger entries.
