Our Take
A stunning season opener that trades plot momentum for grief and fallout, and mostly earns it. The animation is somehow even more gorgeous this time, with a few sequences that genuinely made my jaw drop. It’s a heavier, sadder hour than you might expect, but the emotional groundwork it lays feels earned rather than manipulative. Worth your time, easily.
