Season 1 Review

Elliot Alderson is a young cybersecurity engineer at Allsafe Cybersecurity in New York City; However, in his free time he’s a vigilante hacker. He is recruited by fsociety, a group of black hat hackers led by Mr. Robot, to help take down a large corporate conglomerate, E Corp. E Corp is Allsafe’s biggest client as well as responsible for the death of Elliot’s father, putting him in a place of divided loyalties.

Season Review

The arrival: Elliot’s monologues, fsociety’s plan, and the midseason reveal that rewrites everything you’ve watched (Mr. Robot is his father; the delusion is the structure). The 5/9 hack, the Evil Corp takedowns, and the finale’s ambiguous triumph. Rami Malek’s eyes do half the acting; the hacking is real; the loneliness is the point. One of the great debut seasons.
