Summary
Steven teams up with a new ally to rescue the Gems.
Our Take
A rare episode that plays things completely straight, and the sudden weight of it lands pretty well. Jasper makes a genuinely intimidating first impression, and the ending is a real gut punch for a kids’ show. It’s mostly setup for the finale, though, so it feels a bit like half an hour. Worth it for the tension alone, just know you’re getting a cliffhanger.
