Summary
After learning that the Gems are thousands of years old, Steven decides to make up for all the birthdays they’ve missed.
Our Take
A middling episode with one genuinely memorable idea. The birthday-party setup is filler-thin and the humor is mostly groan-worthy, but the back half takes a surprisingly dark turn when Steven’s age starts slipping, and the image of a rapidly aging kid is more unsettling than anything this show has attempted so far. Worth it for that stretch alone, just expect to wait through some fluff first.
