Summary
After a disastrous morning, Fionna can’t afford to take Cake to the vet, so she seeks help from an unconventional source.
Our Take
A grounded, melancholy opener that spends most of its runtime in a drained, mundane version of Ooo, and the slower pace mostly works thanks to Fionna’s tired, broke-everyman energy. Cake talking is a fun lift when it finally arrives, though the setup takes its sweet time getting there. Worth a watch, especially if you liked the later, weirder seasons of the original.
