Summary
Kevin throws his annual “Anniversa rager” party with help from Patty, Neil and Pete. After Patty reveals the truth about her bank accounts, Allison goes on a bender and makes a decision to take back control of her life.
Our Take
The sitcom-to-drama format switch is a clever idea on paper, but the pilot spends too much time showing off the trick instead of earning it. Annie Murphy is genuinely great in the darker scenes, and that’s what keeps this watchable. Kevin himself is such a cartoon that the satire feels obvious. Worth a look for the concept, though it needs to find its footing fast.
