Summary
Trip and Reed are dispatched on a shuttle mission to investigate an asteroid field and are cut off from Enterprise, thereby becoming convinced the starship has been destroyed and that their days are numbered.
Our Take
A two-man bottle episode that leans hard on Trip and Reed drinking, moping, and bonding as the oxygen runs out. The character stuff is genuinely good, especially once Reed drops the stiff-officer act, but the premise hinges on both men being bad at basic math, which undercuts the tension. Worth a watch for the acting, just don’t think too hard about the plot.
